Social media netiquette

Thank you for your interest in our social media channels. We look forward to engaging and interacting with you. Here, you have the opportunity to find information, ask questions and take part in discussions. To ensure a respectful and pleasant atmosphere, please follow the rules below:

What we value:

  • Cordiality and respect: Discuss topics in an objective and respectful way with others. Be tolerant of other views and contribute to a positive environment.
  • Thematic relevance: Stay on the topic of the post and ensure that your comments and contributions are relevant.
  • Constructive input: We welcome critical questions, suggestions and remarks. Please make them in an objective and constructive way.  
  • Pointing out mistakes: We are open to corrections and are happy for you to point out errors.

What’s not allowed:

  • Hate speech and incitement to hatred for example through posts that incite crime, hate or violence.
  • Discrimination and insults, in particular sexist, racist, discriminatory, defamatory, malicious, or threatening content, and swear words.
  • Illegal content such as pornography, incitement to violence, fake news and conspiracy theories, as well as posts that infringe copyright or violate privacy.
  • Advertising and spam, for example in the form of commercial advertising, machine-generated comments, and posts that are off-topic.
  • Posts that endanger the health or safety of individuals: posts that put the health or personal safety of individuals at risk.

What happens in the event of violations:

  • Deletion and reporting: Posts that violate these rules of netiquette will be deleted or reported. Repeat or serious violations can result in the account in question being blocked.
  • Legal action: This netiquette is intended for information purposes and comprises behavioural recommendations. It is not legally binding. In the event that comments are punishable under criminal law, breach other legal provisions, or the rights of the FMH or third parties, the FMH reserves the right to report a criminal offence, or to take other legal action.
